Story

HISTORY

Originally a California daily driver in 1977, the car was stolen and stripped in 1982. Acquired at a Chicago insurance auction in 1983, it was reconstructed into a road racer, debuting in competition in 1986 before being sold in 1990.

RESTORATION

Repurchased and fully restored with upgrades in 2023, the car was finished in January 2025. The rebuilt powertrain and all safety equipment are now fully up to date.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Chicago native Bill Strempel is a devoted racing enthusiast with a special passion for rotary-powered cars. When asked about his dream car, he replied, "It's out in the garage right now."

FUN FACT

Of the approximately 1,600 cars manufactured in 1977, fewer than 400 of these vehicles are believed to be still in existence today.
