Story
This early 300SL coupe was acquired in 1973 from its second
owner, Fred Simeone in Philadelphia. I am the 3rd owner with the first owner,
Harry Petriciek, reportedly being the producer of "Behind the Green
Door."
A full restoration done by Jerry Hjeltness in 1998. 4500047
has won many 1st places in Gull Wing Group Conventions and best in class trophies
at Amelia, and Best in Show in C&O in Atlanta, and 5 top trophies at Euro Motorsport Festival
in Greer, SC, Halcion in Atlanta, and Highlands Motoring Festival. We then decided
to shift to participating in driving events including multiple 300SL Classics
as well as 1000-mile events. It has been driven round trip to Niagara Canada, Saratoga
New York as well as other events.
4500047 has been modified for safety, reliability, drivability,
and comfort with 3-point seat belts, a full-time electric fuel pump, high
mounted third brake light, air conditioning, alternator, 123 pointless
distributor, Winterburn CDI ignition, power steering and front disc brakes, all
reversable back to originality.
