1969 Porsche 911T – Silver
Some people browse the news before bed. I browsed classic, air‑cooled Porsches. Almost every night, tablet in hand, I’d scroll through listings while we watched TV. My wife would casually ask questions “What’s your favorite color?” “If you could pick any year?” the kind of small talk I assumed was just her humoring my obsession. I’m sure I bored her endlessly with details about long‑hoods, engines, trim levels, and the quirks that made each model special.
On my 50th birthday, fittingly, I was born in 1969 she asked if I planned to work from home and suggested we go out for lunch. As we left the house, she asked me to pull into the small park a mile away. I figured she’d forgotten something or needed to turn around.
Instead, as we rolled into the lot, I saw an enclosed carrier and a man unloading a beautiful silver 1969 Porsche 911T.
I looked at her, confused. She smiled and simply said, “Happy birthday.”
All those casual questions she’d asked over the months weren’t small talk at all they were research. She had quietly gathered every preference, every detail, every dream I’d rambled about and found the exact car I never would have bought for myself.
That day, she gave me more than a car. She gave me the realization that I’m married to someone who listens deeply, loves generously, and knows me better than I know myself.
Now I have the car I always dreamed of and I’m pretty sure I also have the best wife in the world.
