Story
I got the underbody and some of the parts for this 68 Camaro in 1984. I went to Arizona for it so it was never exposed to salt or snow. My first son was born in 1985 and the second in 1987, so it took awhile for me to scour the country for every part. I rebuilt the motor and put it in. Then the really hard part came. After putting all the body pieces on I had to prepare it for the body work and paint. One of my friends Joe Pangello was known as the best body man in the area. I am so grateful to him for this beautiful paint job. We both worked at GM and did the painting bit by bit in our RARE time off. Everything was done in the garage attached to our house. It was a family affair with my wife and the boys "helping out". I then had to find interior and windows and install all that. I enjoyed every minute of this restoration of my 68 Camaro SS. Many of my friends helped out with heavy lifting and emotional support over the 5 years it took to complete. My wife and boys were not careful enough around my baby, so I built a wooden wall I bolted to garage floor. I put thick foam padding on the Camaro side to protect it from big wheels, soccer balls, battery powered jeep and my wife opening her car door. We did many car shows as a family, only if there were no clouds in the sky and ZERO chance of rain. It's a car guy thing and I don't apologize for it! This was my first labor of love, I have more now in varying degrees of restoration progress in my "man cave"!
