Story

Car was completely disassembled in a fully documented and extensive 15 month rebuild. Highly modified, the focus was to stiffen the frame, upgrade the suspension, and build a later model 901 side shift transmission with 2056 cc performance motor for excellent driveability on the street or track. Lots of subtle upgrades and custom touches throughout, the definition of an "outlaw" Porsche. The exterior brings a mix of 70's "Group 4" looks and the funky design and vivid colors of the 1970 Porsche 917 Lemans "Hippie" livery. It's always a "crowd pleaser".

The primary build was highlighted in the 2025 Summer Peachstate PCA Presse, of which the "Hippie" was on the cover. A secondary build was undertaken last summer to further increase engine performance which involved extensive head work installing larger valve sizes, dual springs with titanium retainers, porting and polishing the heads, and port matching the intake manifold runners. The heads were then flycut for higher compression. A 123 programable distributor with MSD ignition was installed. The Weber carbs were rejetted and upgraded with 911 spray bars. The power and torque increases realized thru dyno testing and tuning substantially improved the car's performance.

The "Hippie" won it's class (Tour-02) and won "People's Choice" at the April 19, 2026 Peachstate PCA Concours #1, and Best in Class, Foreign Sports Cars; Porsche, 1948-1998 at the Atlanta Motoring Festival and Concours d'Elegance May 2, 2026.
