Story

I originally purchased the car from a well known Volvo collector in NC on November 22, 2019.  Shortly after I started talking to a gentleman in Port Townsend, WA who owned a fully restored 1961 PV544.  After approx 6 months of conversations, we decided to trade vehicles as he wanted a Duett and I fell in love with the design of the 544 and level of restoration.  Joe Kaczyk was battling cancer and wanted to restore one more Volvo- the Duett.  He preserved the original condition of the vehicle but fully restored all systems where needed with Volvo & OEM parts while adding tasteful touches such as a custom roof rack while incorporating a 1940s French police car brake light, numerous waterfall stickers in the rear and side windows, factory upgraded NOS cotton headliner, Fixlight side markers and most incredible Dansk Camping Union grille emblem as a result of its original delivery into Denmark in 1961.

Joe shared with me the restoration as he was completing from Sept 2020 until May 2023.  He reached out to me in April to inform me that he was going into Hospice and wanted me to get the car back which I did with many happy and sad emotions.  I paid him double the price that I traded it for previously and flew out to Washington to pick it up and meet Joe for the first time.  Sadly he passed just 2 weeks later.

It is a forever car for me and proudly tell everyone the story.  The Duett, considered one of
